No machining center is better suited to high speed machining of copper and aluminum than DATRON. That's because our singular focus is precision milling with small tools and this is ideal from producing copper heatsinks and aluminum heatsinks. | Aluminum Heatsink Surface Finish:
Milling aluminum heatsinks requires superior edge and surface finish so that the aluminum heat sink can work efficiently and be mounted or installed with precision and accuracy. DATRON's Aluminum Heat Sink Machining Center features an ethanol-mist coolant system that is ideal for aluminum heatsink production because it is a lower viscosity than water and gets to the cutting edge where the tool meets the aluminum heat sink allowing for higher speeds and feeds and achieving a better surface and edge finish on aluminum heat sinks. Plus, since the ethanol quickly evaporates after machining the aluminum heatsink is left clean and dry and does not require secondary operations like degreasing. Copper Heatsink with fins: The fins on a copper heatsink are designed for thermal transfer and dissipation because the copper heat sink exists for the purpose of protecting electrical or electronic devices for the damaging effects of heat. Many fins on the copper heatsink results in increased surface area for thermal transfer and in order to mill those fins on the copper heatsink or more precisely, the groves between the fins on the copper heat sink as well as the base of the heatsink and the through holes used for mounting the heat sink, the DATRON high-speed machining center is the ideal choice. The large bed on the machine accommodates batch machining of copper heatsinks or a pneumatic clamping system can hold a single copper heat sink for custom heatsink production. DATRON's 3D probe can measure the copper heatsink for the precise removal of copper heatsink fins for strategic location of mounting elements. An automatic tool changer allows for the unattended milling or machining of both copper heatsinks and aluminum heatsinks. |
